We are looking for an engaged Laboratory Technician or a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist with experience in immunology, molecular biology and experimental animal work. The position is fixed-term for 1 year and is immediately open for appointment.



About the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC)

SIC is located on the 12th floor in the award-winning Maersk Tower at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology. We offer ultra-modern facilities and a vibrant international research environment. Based on a grant from the LEO Foundation of more than 50 million EUR, the center aims to unite leading Danish and international researchers in immunology and skin disease to provide new knowledge to enable better diagnostics and more effective treatments for a wide range of inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. Our research
Our group is the Translational Skin Immunology laboratory at SIC, under the supervision of executive director of SIC, professor and clinical dermatologist Liv Eidsmo.

Research in the Eidsmo lab focuses on the role of resident T cells during homeostasis and immunopathology in the human skin. The group strives to understand basic mechanisms of focal immunopathology induced by T cells, including modulation or ablation of these cells as novel therapeutic strategies.



Your tasks

As our Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist, you will carry out a number of routine laboratory tasks, e.g. organizing the lab, procurement, service agreements, overview of freezers, chemical organization, preparation of reagents and other daily tasks. You will also take part in selected research projects, which involve protein purification, ELISA, RNA purification, qPCR, scRNASeq, library constructions, flow cytometry, purification of primary cells from skin, in vitro cultures of skin and immune cells, training of new group members, as well as work in the mice animal facilities. You will work closely with the group's researchers in these projects.



Profile

We seek a colleague who:

  • Hold a degree as Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (academy profession degree or similar)
  • Has experience with mouse handling and standard cellular and molecular biology methods such as cell. cultures, qPCR, ELISA, histology.
  • Is good at working independently and structured.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills, both in Danish and English; spoken as written.
  • Is motivated, good at working independently and organized, collaborative and a helpful team member.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the changes in academic environments.
In addition, it will be an advantage if the applicant has experience with working according to good laboratory practice in industrial settings as well as experience from work with clinical material and documentation from such work. Expertise in risk assessments and chemical handling procedures are highly meriting.



Terms of salary and employment

Your employment will be at Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The position is full-time (37 hours per week) and for 1 year, and it is open for appointment as soon as possible.

Employment as Biomedical Laboratory Scientist will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Danske Bioanalytikere

Employment as Laboratory Technician will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 3.

Depending on qualifications a supplement may be negotiated.
